This year will see the return of the thundering hooves of noble steeds and their riders to An Tir / West War.
ACCOMODATIONS
There will be 12 stalls inside the barn for those who bring horses but do not want to bring portable stalls. Cost is $5 per night, per stall. Trucks and trailers will be parked up in the Equestrian Area itself and horses will be walked down to the barn for stalling and back up to the EQ area along the main road, entering the barn from the top (Roadside). Folks wanting to camp near their stalled horses can set up tent camping between the barn and the reserved camping areas BUT ALL trailers will be parked up in the EQ area to keep the reserved camping folk from having to stare right at horse trailers from their encampments. ;> Those who are brining portable stalls can set them up next to their trailers in the EQ area. Water will be available for the horses in the EQ area, but people will need to bring their own drinkable water. There is no power in the EQ area, so we will all be roughing it together up there. Grass hay will be available to purchase on site. $4 a bail is what I think I was told My suggestion is that folk drive right to the EQ area when they arrive, get their horses settled in and their trucks and trailers parked, THEN go to gate, pay and sign in. The entrance to the EQ area is the road directly opposite the main entrance to the war, right beside the entrance to the archery area. Use this link to see a Google Map of the war… I will be on site about mid day on Thursday. Anyone planning one coming in with their horses before then, please contact me asap.
RIDING
Riding without weapons will be allowed for authorized riders in the EQ area during all daylight hours, as long as the rider is not alone. Someone, on a horse, or on the ground is to have eyes on anyone riding at all times. Riding with weapons for practice will be possible Friday and Saturday beginning at 10:00am with marshals on duty until the lunch break at 12:00. There will be time to get people authorized for general riding and gaming during this time if they wish. At 1:00 the competition for that day will begin and continue until all competitors have completed their runs. Friday will see competition in a Challenge Course setting and Saturday there will be a Palfrey competition. These two competitions will be used to determine the war point awards for Equestrians at this war. The Challenge Course will be a test of Martial skill, speed and agility. The Palfrey Challenge will test the relationship between horse and rider and will include a “Presentation” section which will last 5 to 7 minutes and riders are encouraged to do it to music. Bring your music with you or music can be provided for you. Both days, should there be a desire and qualified riders, we hope to have the tilt set up for Double Quintain and Jousting AND battleground set aside for Crest Combat and Mounted Combat. Opportunities to make Inter Kingdom Equestrian Championship runs will be available, also dependant on folks wishing to make said runs. Sunday there will be a Mounted Archery Demonstration and Workshop beginning at 10:00am. |
