new waivers for equestrian
From: "Baron, Meg"
Thanks to the incredible work of the Legal Committee, especially Mr. Mike Watkins, a roster-style waiver has been created for each of the 44 states requiring specific language. A "generic" waiver has been created for use in the remaining six states (Alaska, California, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland), and in locations outside the United States. The equestrian marshal in charge (EMIC) should sign each roster as acknowledgement of rider authorization and waiver submission.

Minor forms policy
To make it official here is the text from the Seneschal's letter in the June 2002 Crier. Since this has not been rescinded (as far as I know) it should still be a matter of policy :)
"Finally, to curb some of the confusion, Minors Waivers and Medical Authorizations do not have to be notarized. In lieu of that, we are asking non-attending parents/guardians to supply a photocopy of their driver's license or comparable ID as proof of their name and signature. They can block out their Social Security number if it appears on the ID.
Medical Authorization forms are optional for Minors attending with a parent. Medical Authorizations are required if the parent/guardian is not present. Please do not retain a copy of the Medical Authorization at gate. They are designed to be kept with the Minor and/or responsible adult. Please do keep the Minor Waiver and copy of ID, when applicable, at gate. Minors attending without their legal guardian must attend with a responsible adult, over 21.
Any problems with the Minor will result in both the Minor and the 'responsible' adult being removed from the site."

Regarding Credit Card Payments for events - From the Society Exchequer
Greetings to the SCA populace from Susan Earley, Society Chancellor of the Exchequer.
You may have seen in a forwarded post a notice regarding the Ansteorran Credit Card Event Payment System (ACCEPS). I want to make it clear that ACCEPS is currently in an experimental phase, and also explain why we have some policies currently in place preventing branches from doing similar things at this time. I've already seen some misinformation posted, and I want to clear things up.

NMS (Non-Member Surcharge)
Reprinted from the SCA Inc., BOD announcement page,
How the NMS applies:
(1) The NMS will apply to events which meet the requirements defined in Corpora section II.C., "...Society events for which a full announcement including date, time, and place has been published in advance in the appropriate corporate publication;" and for which a fee or required donation to attend the event is charged.
(2) The NMS will not be collected if there is no fee or required donation to attend the event.
(3) The NMS will not be collected for minors for whom there is a discounted event fee.
Definition of appropriate Corporate Publication from the Society Chronicler:
"Corporate Publications" are those for which the SCA, Inc. pays to have printed. That would include Tournaments Illuminated, Complete Anachronist, and all Kingdom Newsletters. In fact, Society Publication Policy states that all other publications must have the line '...is not a corporate publication of the SCA..."
With that being said, if the event is published in the Crier AND there is an Entrance Fee or
Donation charged, then the event is subject to NMS. These events are tracked at the Corporate level using the Kingdom Calendar in the Crier and complete compliance with the NMS is expected. The NMS must be handled as a separate fee and may NOT be subsidized out of the branch general fund.
I must also advise you that if events are withdrawn from the Crier in order to skirt the NMS, you are also disallowing the Crown or Coronets from doing the business of giving out awards, per Society Publication Policy, where Presentation of awards or titles can only be given out at events in which a complete event announcement has appeared in the Kingdom Newsletter.
If anyone has any further questions, please contact the Kingdom Calendar
(calendar at antir.sca.org) or myself at (seneschal at antir.sca.org).
Thanks,
Master Ljotr Einarsson OP

More on NMS
From: "Pyotr C."
Subject: [autocrats] NMS Submissions
Just a brief reminder....... the Society is asking us to provide stats on the events we collect and submit NMS. This includes EVENT NAME and DATES, TOTAL ADULT ATTENDANCE, and NUMBER OF NON-MEMBER ADULTS. I can usually figure out everything except total adult attendance just from the submission. Sometimes I can't contact anyone with the figures I need. This makes for bad bookkeeping.
Please let me know, with your NMS submissions, what the total adult attendance figures are for your event.
Many Thanks for your cooperation,
Pyotr Constantinovich

NMS Update
* * * * * * * P R A Y A T T E N D * * * * * * * *
First, please don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger.
Despite copious communication and many discussions with Society and SCA Inc. it's come to light that we're a bit off in our way of defining what events are subject to NMS collection. So, starting now;
ALL EVENTS ON THE KINGDOM CALENDAR PUBLISHED IN THE CRIER ARE SUBJECT TO NMS COLLECTION IF AN ENTRY FEE IS CHARGED.
We are told that what is in the past is history and will be forgiven, except for those events where NMS was collected. If it was collected it must be submitted.
Points to consider; All Crown, Kingdom, and Principality events *must* be listed on the Kingdom Calendar. Each branch *must*, by AnTir Law, list at least one event per year on the Kingdom Calendar. Beyond that, there is no other requirement to list your events on the AnTir Calendar. Keep in mind that if it's not on the (Crier) Calendar, you may not get *copy* published in the Crier. The "Upcoming Events" calendar on the AnTir web site is not involved here and does not apply.
Branches are still free to advertise events in local and Principality newsletters, websites, etc. Only the official calendar in the Crier seems to be the trigger. Events can still be genuine SCA events without the Calendar listing. What you cannot do at a non-listed event is principality or kingdom business.
I'm glad to answer questions, listen to your gripes and concerns, help you decide what to do now, etc. Listings can come off the AnTir Calendar easily at the request of the branch Seneschal.

family minor waiver form
Greetings unto the esteemed members of the Society:
We have a new form available that may make life easier for parents. The Family Minor Waiver can be found on the SCA's website: http://www.sca.org/docs/waivers.html
This form allows parents with more than one child to complete a single waiver for all of their children, instead of having to complete a separate form for each child. Remember also that, as always, a new waiver must be completed for each event the minors attend, and at each fighter practice at which the minors take part in combat-related activities.
Please note that this form may be used for children in a single family/belonging to a single parent or legal guardian ONLY. It may NOT be used for a random assortment of children belonging to a random assortment of s.
Please download, print, and copy the form as needed. This form is also available from your Kingdom Seneschal.
In service,
Meg Baron
President, SCA Inc.
