The purpose of a family cap is to lessen the costs for a family to attend an SCA event. It is based on a two adult and two minor household. Additional children are admitted at no charge. To qualify for the family cap, the individuals involved need to be either a biological or blended family residing in the same location. This would include children and/or stepchildren, parents and/or domestic partners. Same sex domestic partners are included in this definition.
In many cases, common sense will play a part in determining eligibility for the family cap. Families with foster children, grandparents raising their grandchildren, and other special circumstances involving custody issues and request should be considered and included according to the spirit of this policy.
The spirit of the family cap has never been to accommodate SCA house-holds, or families where the children are over 18, whether or not they live at the same physical address.
The Non Member Surcharge is added on the top of the family cap. It applies to all non-member adults attending an SCA event. Minors are never charged the Non Member Surcharge when there is a discounted minor fee.
An example:
Site Fee: Adults $10.00, Children $5.00
Family Cap $30.00
Family Cap for Non Members $36.00
