A: Purpose
To expand basic knowledge.
B: Requirements
Must achieve a total of five selections as follows: one from the garment category, one from the accessory category, two from the "other" category, and one other from any of the four categories listed below.

Standards for Objects:
Workmanship requirement:
- Seams should be finished in some manner to prevent raveling, if needed.
- An attempt is made for a proper silhouette.
- A basic comprehension of proper color and fabric choices.
Documentation requirements - minimums:
- One photocopy of relevant primary source.
- Type or write a legible one-page summary explaining your project and include a list of relevant source materials.
Standards for Non-Objects:
- Classes Taken: Must have taken a class on some form of textile arts (title of class, name of teacher, where and when taken required, or class handout).
- Entry: Entries in a Kingdom level costume/embellishment/textile contest require the year of entry, and where the contest was held (if available).
- Significant time contribution to the Guild: Requires a note from the officer or deputy you assisted describing the nature and amount of service rendered. A total of four hours of assisting in a Guild activity is minimum and may be done over several events.
- Teaching: Teaching one-on-one or teaching to the local level, requires a signed letter saying you taught the person or class, or a copy of the class handout or catalogue.
- Writing: Challenger must have submitted to the FTSO one of the following:
1. A costuming or textile related article of 200 words
2. An annotated bibliography of at least six books on a specific costuming or textile topic
3. A book review on a costuming or textile art book, totaling approximately 200 words in length. - Judging: Student judging of a minimum of three hours at Kingdom Costumer's Contest or textile/costuming at Kingdom A&S. This may be done over multiple events.
