Johann von Drachenfels' personal pavilion

Johann, owner of Dragonwing Pavilions,  stands beside his personal pavilion (this photo taken at Estrella '00).  A dust storm came through one afternoon, with some heavy winds, and this little pavilion withstood it beautifully.  Johann showed the benefits of his method of staking down the tent, with two ropes coming from a point on the valance, and going to different stakes.  It makes it very stable.  I have since seen this method in period manuscripts, so apparently our ancestors thought so, too!

Johann added the following information about this tent, " The frame is the standard one (2-1/2" octagonal Doug Fir center pole, formed segmented steel hoop) I offer for all my rounds. The fabric is Fyrecoat, from John Boyle. The paint is acrylic, since it works well with the acrylic top coat on the tent. (This was explicated on one of my web page columns about two years ago.) The translation of the valance inscription is "Silliness is Virtue is Silliness is Virtue is ..."

He has extensive information on his website, at http:://midtown.net/dragonwing/default.htm  .  If you want to contact Master Johann about his tent,  EMAIL HIM HERE.
